My wife and I recently bought a brand new Hyundai Tucson, which we were really enjoying. However, we soon realized that there was a problem with GPS navigation. Every time we tried to use Google Maps or Waze app through Android Auto, it wouldn’t behave as it should, constantly repositioning, recalculating the route, and flipping the map round and round. It was getting frustrating, and we were about to give up and buy a phone holster to use the maps apps in the old fashioned method when we stumbled upon a solution.

It occurred to me that Android Auto shouldn’t need access to my Location service. After all, I’m already mirroring a location application that naturally has access to the location. So, I went to Settings -> Apps -> Tap on Android Auto -> Tap on Permissions -> Select Location -> Tap on Deny Access. To my surprise, the problem disappeared!
Denying access to the location service for the Android Auto app forces it to leverage the location service from the maps app itself, which instantly mitigates the issue. This solution might work for other Hyundai models experiencing GPS issues as well.
In conclusion, if you’re experiencing GPS issues on your Hyundai Tucson or any other Hyundai model, try denying access to the location service for the Android Auto app. It might just save you a lot of frustration and hassle in the long run.
